This highly engaging and multi-sensory experience will guide participants through a series of tasting exercises with common food items such as cheese, lemon juice, sugar and nuts to better understand and assess a wine’s acidity, alcohol, structure and body. Participants will also learn why these components are the secret to creating memorable food and wine pairings.

For the tasting, please have the following wine and foods on hand:

  • A light-bodied, high-acid white: Such as Albarino, Sauvignon Blanc or Gruner Veltliner

  • A Reserva-level Rioja: Preferred brands include Marques de Caceres, CVNE, Marques de Murrieta, Muga or Marques de Riscal.

  • nuts (walnuts, pecans or almonds)

  • sugar, honey or fruit compote

  • creamy cow cheese (camembert, brie or saint-andre, etc.)

  • soft tangy cheese (goat cheese or feta)

  • hard cheese (parmesan, aged gouda or cheddar)

  • lemon slices or lemon juice

  • marinated vegetables, pickles, and or olives (optional)

  • cured meat (optional)

The food items are components of a meat and cheese board. Look for ready-to-serve meat and cheese boards at your grocery store. Please skip any item if you have an allergy or dietary restriction. Contact me for alternative substitutions.

Pricing is per Zoom link. Anyone in the household is welcome to join at no additional charge. Zoom link will be sent to you within 24 hours of purchase. There will be an opportunity to interact and ask questions during the tasting.
